NEW YORK, NY—Pratt Institute men’s tennis players Ben Erickson and Rongxin Zhang have been named to the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate All-Conference team the league announced Monday.
Erickson, a freshman from Minneapolis, MN, capped off his debut season by posting an overall 5-4 record in No. 1 singles play, including an even 2-2 in conference matches. Erickson twice earned weekly awards this season, earning Rookie of the Week and Player of the Week during the final two weeks of the regular season.
Zhang, a graduate students from Vancouver, BC, finished the 2017 season with a record of 4-3 in the No. 2 singles position. His conference record was a level 2-2, with his only losses coming to the eventual conference champion.
Together, the tandem of Erickson and Zhang were dominate in doubles action throughout the entirety of the season, posting an overall 6-2 record, including a perfect 4-0 mark in HVIAC play.
Pratt finished the season with a record of 5-4 (3-1 HVIAC), earning the Cannoneers a share of the regular season conference title.
