Men's Basketball Drops Season Opener to Sarah Lawrence, 90-72

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - November 10, 2018 - Despite having a combined 47 points from Griffin Levine (Dallas, Tex.) and Tytus Millikan (Winnemucca, Nev.), the Pratt Institute men's basketball team fell to Sarah Lawrence College in its season opener on Saturday afternoon at the Pratt ARC.

Pratt shot 22-for-51 (43.1%) from the floor in the contest and knocked down nine threes, to the Gryphons' seven.  Levine led all players with 29 points to go along with 3 boards, while Millikan stuffed the stat-sheet with 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Akil Phillip (Queens, N.Y.) turned in a nine-point, 11-rebound performance, and off the bench, Eric Jeon (Woodcliffe, N.J.) contributed 13 points. 

After Levine converted for the his third triple of the early going for a 9-2 cushion at the 15:20 mark, Sarah Lawrence's Omar Jamaleddine finished three unanswered buckets to cut the lead to 10-9 just over seven minutes into the game. Jeon nailed his second three of the game's first 9 minutes, with 10:59 in the half, to push the Cannoneers' lead to 19-15. A layup at 9:55 by Luke O'Connor gave the Gryphons their first lead of the game, 20-19.

The black and yellow went on a 12-0 run, capped by a highlight-reel tip-in from Hamzah Hamdeh (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to bring the score to 33-36 at the 3:31 mark. Pratt eventually took a 38-37 lead into halftime.

A jumper by Millikan at 17:49 in the second half gave the home team a 43-42 lead. The Sarah Lawrence lead would grow to five until a broken play led to a wide-open finish by Jeon at 12:03 to cut the three.

The visitors would respond with a 9-0 run, punctuated by a steal and transition layup by Austin Jones to give the Gryphons a 64-52 cushion. Their lead would balloon to 17 before a run by Pratt, featuring a top-of-the-key three from Levine would cut the lead to nine with 5:35 remaining.

A three-pointer by Sarah Lawrence's Kaleb Robinson at 3:34 would push the lead to 81-66. The Gryphons would hold on to eventually win by 18.
