Cannoneers open outdoor track at St. Joseph's-Long Island

PATCHOGUE, NY -- Pratt Institute's men's and women's outdoor track teams opened the spring on Saturday at St. Joseph's College Spring Invitational. 

Akil Philip led a pair of Cannoneers in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 16th out of 38 runners at 23.98 seconds, while Aston Ford came in 33rd at 26.20 seconds. 

Austin Simms took eight place out of 24 participants in the 400-meter run at 53.70 seconds, while Philip followed in 12th with a time of 54.82 seconds. 

In the 800-meter run, Bubby Vernon finished 31st with a time of two minutes, 30.40 seconds, and Dylan Cabral finished third out of nine in the 1,500-meter run at 4:57.26. 

On the women's side, Iyatunde Majekodunmi finished 18th out of 33 runners in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.13. In the 200-meter, Juliana Chin came in 28th out of 42 runners with a time of 31.89 seconds. 

The Cannoneers return to the track on Saturday, April 1 at Ramapo College.
