Women's track lands commitment from thrower Remi Urreta

BROOKLYN -- Pratt Institute women's track has added Remi Urreta, a graduating senior from Walter Panas (NY) High School, to its throwing corps, the program announced.

"Remi will be one of the top throwers Pratt has," said head coach Ezra Kwong. "She's a well rounded athlete with a tremendous amount of potential and raw talent, and I'm really looking forward to working with her."

Urreta finished third at this year's indoor Westchester County Championships with a personal-record shot put distance of 32 feet. A three-year varsity track letter winner, her weight throw record is 34 feet, 2.5 inches.

She finished first in the weight throw at the New York State Section I Kickoff Meet and at the League II Class B Championship. Urreta will graduate as Panas' weight throw and shot put record holder.

A four-year varsity letter winner on the Rebels softball team, she is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society.
