ROSEMONT, PA – The Pratt Institute women's soccer team – entering the program's second season – gave it their all but fell to Rosemont College at the Ravens Athletic Complex, 6-1. The Cannoneers dropped to 0-1, while the host Ravens improved to 2-0.
"It was a frustrating game because it was our lack of fitness and physicality that really hurt us," said head coach Jonas Worth. "Last year, we would have been evenly matched with Rosemont technically, but they were way fitter than us today."
Rosemont, which reeled off 35 shots to Pratt's nine on the afternoon, found the back of the net four times in the first half. A Lauren Lightcap strike within seven minutes, followed by a brace from Marciana Mazzeo, started the Raven's momentum.
Despite the result, the coaching staff was able to find positives in defeat. "Senior captain, Taylor Chin, was a highlight today and has quickly adapted to her new role as center back," noted Worth. "Emmy Hicks-Jablons also looked wise beyond her years at fullback."
Up Next: The Cannoneers will benefit from a full week of practice before traveling to Pennsylvania for a showdown at Penn State – Schuylkill on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
