JAMAICA, NY -- Pratt got back in the win column with an 8-1 road win at York College in non-conference women's tennis play Saturday afternoon in Queens.
Cannoneers Agata Jakubowska, Sarah Conant, Carson Stanch and Rose Wong all recorded singles and doubles victories for Pratt as the team won for an eighth time in nine matches this season.
Jakubowska made quick work of Maleeka Chin, 6-0, 6-0, in top singles play and teamed with Conant for an 8-2 win over Chin and Joanne Ly. Playing in No. 3 singles, Conant took care of Kameesha Sylvester 6-1, 6-3.
Stanch improved to 3-1 in singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Tamara Dotson in No. 5 singles and paired with Rachel Caires for an 8-0 shutout of Sylvester and Alicia Deschamps in second doubles.
Wong, meanwhile, shut out Lisa Smith, 6-0, 6-0, in sixth singles, advancing her record to 2-0 on the season. She teamed up with fellow senior Janet Lee for an 8-0 triumph over Smith and Dotson in third doubles, improving her doubles record to 3-1.
At 8-1, Pratt faces its stiffest test yet when the Cannoneers return to play on Wednesday at the USTA National Tennis Center at 7:00 p.m. against 11-0 Staten Island, which is undefeated in the CUNYAC at 6-0.
