PRATT FAQ

Who has a memerbship to Pratt recreation in the ARC?

All students, staff, and faculty have a membership to the ARC with a valid Pratt ID.

What does my membership to Pratt Rec and the ARC include?

Membership to Pratt Rec and the ARC gives you complete access to the ARC's activity spaces (court areas, fitness center, boxing/functional fitness area, studio room, and lockers), Pratt Rec group fitness classes and Pratt Rec intramural leagues.

How do I register for Pratt Rec programs?

For intramural leagues, we recommend checking out our Pratt Intramurals page (HERE). As for all group fitness classes, they are open and flexible to all within the Pratt Community (Students, Admin, Faculty, and Members). Pratt Rec events access can vary depending on the type of event being offered.

Do I need my Pratt ID to access Pratt Rec programs?

Absolutely! There is no other way. ALL patrons entering the ARC or accessing a Pratt Rec offering/program must provide and present a valid Pratt ID for swipe or review.

Where are most Pratt Rec programs held?

As you can imagine, most Pratt Rec programs are held within the ARC. However, a few group fitness classes are held in various spaces and areas across the Pratt campus to better reach and serve our community.

Are the offerings within Pratt Rec costly?

Almost all Pratt Rec offerings are at no cost to members. There are a select few offerings that have a small registration fee attached or may require participants to purchase personal equipment (i.e. Boxing - purchase own boxing gloves).

When are Pratt Rec group classes offered? – Do I have to attend ALL the classes?

Pratt Rec group classes are offered during the Fall and Spring semesters. We understand the crazy schedules of everyone within the Pratt community, so group classes have FLEXIBLE schedules. Drop in and attend when it works for you! To view the latest and current group fitness class schedule, you can visit HERE.

I’m not sporty, is there something for beginners and newbies?

Health and Wellness doesn't have to be "sporty". If shooting a basketball or lifting weights isn't of your interest, there are a host of other activities that you can be involved in, or at the very least, give a try. We urge all Cannoneers to FIND WHAT MOVES THEM! Do not be afraid to try something new. And if it's something we currently don't offer, let us know!

How do I get help with my fitness journey?

Pratt Rec offers personal training to the Pratt community. Students are FREE for group training (occurs in specific classes) with individual sessions available for an extremely low cost. Personal and group training are also available to all other membership types (i.e. community members and Pratt faculty, admin, staff, etc...). You can see more on personal training HERE.

I am sporty - I want to play! Do you have leagues that I join?

Pratt Rec offers an intramural program that hosts basketball and soccer leagues every semester. The leagues are open to everyone with a valid ARC membership! Grab your team or join a team, and come play - maybe win a championship or two! For more information on Intrmural leagues, see HERE.

Can I check the schedule for court availability (or any other specific space availability) before coming to the ARC?

Absolutely! Time is VERY sensitive within the Pratt community. Trying to sneak in a personal dance practice after class? Have a break between studio time that you're looking to get a lift in? You and your friends have one window to get a game of pickup basketball in for the week? Before you come down to the ARC, you can see the schedule of your desired activity area and it's availability. See HERE.

When is the ARC open?

The ARC runs on a normal schedule that you can see HERE. You can also view when the ARC will be open during special event weekends, or off-peak periods at the same link.

In the summer, be sure to check our social media - Twitter and Instagram (@PrattRecWell) for sudden ARC closures due to TMI.

Is the ARC accessible to all?

Absolutely! The ARC provides a functional ramp, a functional elevator operating between the Lower and Upper ARC areas, as well as accessible bathroom stalls in the locker rooms. See HERE for more on the ARC's Accessibility.

Does my membership expire?

All students, staff, and faculty with an active Pratt ID will have access to the ARC.  Once leaving the Institution, your membership will not longer be active.

Are lockers available for use?

Yes, they are available on a first come first serve basis and you must bring your own lock. There will be a limited amount of daily lockers for use.

Is it true you have saunas in your locker rooms?

This is very true. It's a great place for your post-workout or to be used for your recovery.

Can I work for Pratt Rec?

You're absolutely flattering us with the offer. Pratt Rec is only employing Pratt students at this time. If you are interested, see HERE for information on positions.

Can I bring a guest to a Pratt Rec offering?

Yes. Guest passes within the ARC and for Pratt Rec offerings are $15. The Pratt member MUST be with the guest at ALL TIMES and is responsible for their actions.

Can I reserve the ARC studio room?

Students who are interested in reserving the ARC studio room for their student organization or club must contact Pratt admin at least three weeks to your requested date to begin the reservation process.
