Ramaswami earns a pair as Pratt drops opener at Cooper

QUEENS, NY -- Pratt took two of three double points as Keshav Ramaswami earned wins in second doubles and sixth singles, but the Cannoneers dropped a 6-3 season-opening loss to Cooper Union Saturday afternoon at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Tennis Center.

The sophomore earned an 8-2 sixth singles win over Cooper's Joe Zwetchkenbaum and teamed with freshman Fan Mo in toughing out an 8-7 (8-6) No. 2 doubles win over Zwetchkenbaum and Aauash Shah.

In third doubles, senior Michael Steiner and sophomore Andrew Barkett paired to top Cooper's Norris Nagasaki and Sergey Kolcminskiy, 8-7 (7-3).

For Cooper, Anthony Anthony Assal earned first singles and No. 1 doubles wins for the defending Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference champs.

Pratt (0-1) is back in action on Monday, returning to the USTA for a non-conference tilt with John Jay at 7:30 p.m.
