LAKEWOOD, NJ -- Pratt women's tennis lost its spring season opener and its first contest against an NCAA Division II opponent, falling to Division II Georgian Court University, 7-2 on Saturday.
The Cannoneers scored their points on defaults in sixth singles and third doubles. The match was closer than the score indicated, as three singles players pushed their Lions opponents to three or more sets. No. 1 singles player Agata Jakubowska let a 6-2, 3-6, 1-6 loss get away, Sarah Conant fell 7-6 (9-3), 6-1 (10-3) to Melissa Dennis, and Whitney Mills fell 4-6, 6-3, 2-6 to Merdeth Hoffman in No. 4 singles.
At 10-3 in 2013-14 (0-1 spring season), the 2013 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champion Cannoneers travel to Bard (6-3, 0-0 spring) on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
