Women's tennis opens 2014 with 6-3 win over Yeshiva

QUEENS -- The Cannoneers opened 2014 by knocking off Yeshiva University, 6-3, Sunday afternoon on the campus of Queens College in non-confernece women's tennis play.

Agata Jakubowska, Gabriella Guerra, and Sarah Conant all won in both singles and doubles play, while Megan Basaluda was victorious in her college debut. Jakubowska and Guerra teamed to top Shani Hava and Jannah Eichenbaum in No. 1 doubles, also winning in No. 1 and No. 4 singles, respectively.

Conant bested Jenny Tepler in No. 3 singles and teamed with Carson Stanch for a No. 2 doubles victory, and Basaluda bested Lindsay Fracher 4-6, 7-6, 16-14 in fifth singles.

The Cannoneers return to the court on Friday, playing host to Ramapo College at 5:30 p.m. at the Pratt ARC.
