Men's tennis earns 6-3 win at St. Joe's of Long Island in fall play

PATCHOGUE, NY -- Pratt Institute's Sergio Yarritu earned top singles and top doubles wins as the Cannoneers knocked off host St. Joseph's of Long Islang 6-3 in fall non-conference men's tennis play Sunday afternoon.

Yarritu worked a 6-2, 6-1 No. 1 singles win over the Golden Eagles Tom O'Keefe after teaming with John Imamoglu in top doubles for an 8-1 win over O'Keefe and Matt Dio. Imamoglu, meanwhile, bested Matt Dio 6-0, 6-2 in second singles.

Making his Cannoneers debut, freshman Nick Minichiello shut out St. Joseph's Brian Merle 8-0 in sixth singles and paired with Eli Eskenazi for an 8-0 blanking of Merle and Alex Fischer in No. 3 doubles. In No. 4 singles, Eskenazi topped Fischer, 6-1, 6-0.

The Cannoneers continue fall play on October 5, playing host to Farmingdale State.
