Cannoneers suffer first loss of 2014 with 6-3 setback to Ramapo

BROOKLYN -- Pratt fell to 1-1 with a 6-3 loss to visiting Ramapo College Friday night in the Cannoneers home opener.

Ramapo opened the night by taking all three doubles points -- Nos. 1 and 2 by the narrow margin of 8-6 -- and left Pratt little room for error in singles play. Top singles player Agata Jakubowska improved to 2-0 on the year with a 6-1, 6-6, 10-5 win over Carly Agrifolio, and Gabriella Guerra knocked off Katrina Bliss 7-5, 7-6 in fourth singles. Freshman Megan Basaluda bested Micala Demchak 6-3, 6-3, but splitting singles scoring would not suffice for the Cannoneers.

Pratt returns to play in non-conference action Saturday at 1:00 p.m., playing host to Baruch College.
