Pratt falls to Berkeley, 9-0, in HVIAC Championship

BROOKLYN -- No. 2 seed Pratt was halted in its quest for a fifth straight Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship, falling 9-0 to top-seeded Berkeley College, which won its first-ever title.

Cannoneers freshmen Melanie Kania and Neeka Gilardian were upended 8-3 by Ceren Askoy and Maria Avila in No. 1 doubles. In singles play, Askoy bested Kania and Avila upended Gilardian at the first and second spots, respectively, each falling 10-2.

Elsewhere, Pratt's Nicole Hetzel and Cailyn Culp fell 8-1 to Kate Gorshunova and Susan Wong, 8-1 in third doubles.

Pratt wraps up its 2015 season at 3-8.
