ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY -- Cannoneers Carson Stanch, Sara Berndt and Megan Basaldua picked up two wins a piece in Pratt's 5-4 triumps at Bard College Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis play.
Stanch stepped up to No. 1 singles in knocking off Harriette Slagle, 6-2, 6-1. She teamed with sophomore Luija Zhu for an 8-6 top doubles win over Beryl Taylor and Isabelle Scarborough.
Basaldua, meanwhile, bested Scarborough, 6-3, 6-0, in No. 3 singles. The reigning Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year paired with Berndt to beat Danielle Iserlis and Yuanyuan Xu 8-2 in second doubles. Berndt earned her second point of the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Alice Chen in fourth singles.
The win improves Pratt to 9-3 overall and 1-1 in spring play. The Cannoneers return to the court on April 24 for the Pratt Institute Invitational.
