BROOKLYN -- Pratt Institute improved to 5-3 with a 9-0 win over the College of New Rochelle Saturday afternoon on campus at the ARC.
In No. 1 doubles, senior Agata Jakubowska teamed with four-time reigning Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week Amanda Twu for an 8-1 win over Sydney Thompson and Iyesogie Aghahowa. HVIAC Player of the Week Melanie Kania and freshman Haddie Webster shut out Lissa Alcius and Natacha Sornsuwit 8-0 in No. 2 doubles. Cannoneers senior Cailyn Culp and freshman Cory Marks breezed by Oumie Jobarteh and Jhosalie Danseco 8-0 in No. 3 doubles.
Pratt won all six singles matches in straight sets, with Jakubowska, Twu, Kania, Webster, and Marks earning victories in first throught fifth singles, respectively. Freshman Yilin Yan bested Snovetia Cape, 6-0, 6-0, in sixth singles.
The Cannoneers open HVIAC play on Saturday, October 8 at home against Vaughn College.
