Cannoneers improve to 3-1 with 6-3 win over Mount Saint Mary

BROOKLYN -- Pratt got back in the win column with a 6-3 victory over Mount Saint Mary College Sunday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis play at the ARC.

The Cannoneers captured four of six singles points, with HVIAC Rookie of the Week Amanda Twu topping Charlotte Pascual 6-2, 6-2 in No. 2 singles. Junior Melanie Kania improved to 2-0 on the year with a 6-5, 6-2 third singles win, while freshman Cory Marks picked up her first win as a Cannoneer with a 6-1, 6-0 fifth singles rout of Miyanna Vernon.

Elsewhere, Pratt's Yilin Yan improved to 2-1 on the season, toughing out a 6-0, 5-7, 11-9 win over Dorothy Tighe in No. 6 singles.

Head coach David Eddy's Cannoneers took two of three doubles points, as Twu teamed with senior Agata Jakubowska for an 8-4 win, and Kania paired with freshman Haddie Webster for an 8-5 No. 2 doubles victory.

Pratt returns to the court on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., also in non-conference play at the ARC against Yeshiva University.
