BROOKLYN -- Pratt Institute won the top three singles fights, but Yeshiva earned two of three doubles points to remain undefeated at 7-0, emerging 5-4 in non-conference women's tennis play Thursday night at the ARC.
Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week Agata Jakubowska bested Tzipora Leiser 10-2 in top singles play and teamed with HVIAC Rookie of the Week Amanda Twu for an 8-2 win over Shani Hava and Rebecca Packer in No. 1 doubles.
In No. 2 singles, Twu rolled past Adele Lerner 10-1. Cannoneers sophomore Melanie Kania topped Packer 10-7 in third singles, which impressed head coach David Eddy.
"I thought Melanie played their best player," he said. "Melanie returned [Packer's] strong lefty serve, which was a key to winning the match."
Yeshiva captured Nos. 2 and 3 doubles flights and the bottom three singles points to secure the win. With the loss, Pratt drops to 3-2 on the season.
The Cannoneers return to play on Saturday at noon, at home against The New School in non-conference play.
