BROOKLYN – Pratt Institute improved to 4-2 with a 9-0 win over The New School Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis play at the ARC.
Senior Agata Jakubowska blanked Agona Sportak 6-0, 6-0 in top singles. The Reigning Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of Week teamed with HVIAC Rookie of the Week Amanda Twu for an 8-2 win over Sportak and Paola Bernak in No. 1 doubles. Playing No. 2 singles, Twu topped Bernak 6-1, 6-3.
In second doubles, Melanie Kania paired with fellow sophomore Neeka Gilardian for an 8-1 rout of Ritika Ramesh and Tarika Jain. Both Cannoneers were victorious in singles action, with Kania earning a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ramesh, improving to 4-0 in singles play on the year. Gilardian, meanwhile, improved to 3-0, besting Jain 6-2, 6-4.
Freshmen Haddie Webster and Ivy Fu paired for an 8-3 third doubles win and were victorious in fifth and sixth singles, respectively. In her first singles match, Fu earned her first win as a Cannoneer, 6-4, 6-1 over Katya Fedak.
At 4-2 on the season, Pratt returns to play tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham in non-conference play.
