BROOKLYN -- Pratt Institute women's tennis opened 2016 with a 6-3 victory over visiting SUNY Delhi Sunday afternoon in non-conference play at the Pratt ARC.
Freshman Amanda Twu earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Delhi's Kathleen Lennon in top singles play and teamed with sophomore Neeka Gilardian for an 8-2 top doubles win over Lennon and Mei Pan.
Gilardian outlasted Monica Benitez for a 4-6, 7-6, 7-3 second doubles win, while Pratt's Carmen Huevelmans topped Delhi's Jenna Belair 6-1, 6-0 in No. 3 singles.
Cannoneers freshman Yilin Yan teamed with senior Cailyn Culp for an 8-4 third doubles win over Angela Kolz and Tatiana Feiteau and knocked off Kolz 6-0, 6-2 in sixth singles.
Winners in head coach David Eddy's Cannoneers debut, Pratt returns to play on Sunday, September 11 at the ARC against Purchase State at 1:00 p.m.
