NEW YORK, NY – Pratt Institute women's soccer rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn a draw with Penn State- Hazelton on Saturday evening at Randall's Island.
The Nittany Lions got on the board first following a Katie Oldziejewski unassisted goal in the 13th minute. PSU-Hazelton would double their lead right before half, scoring off a deflection in the 39th minute to take a 2-0 advantage into intermission.
Following intermission, Pratt began to find their offensive groove. In the 50th minute, Katherine Shan took a pass from Jen Klockner and beat the goalkeeper with a left footed shot just inside the box to cut the deficit in half. Pratt would tie the score at 2-2 in the 80th minute as Klockner beat the keeper 1-on-1.
With five minutes before time, the Cannoneers had two chances to win the match. Harper McVey and Jen Klockner both saw their final attempts of the evening hit the crossbar as Pratt settled for the tie.
The Cannoneers overall record on the season stands at 3-5-2.
Currently positioned third place in the HVIAC table, the Cannoneers final week of the season will include games against the top two teams in the conference – and likely their first round tournament opponent. Head coach Jonas Worth stated what his team must do when facing Albany Pharmacy and SUNY-ESF.
"We have to first demonstrate that we are capable of playing up to a team of their skill level. I tend to think we play better in those types of games."
Up Next: The Cannoneers conclude the regular season with an upstate trip to face SUNY-ESF and Albany Pharmacy on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
