BROOKLYN, NY—Pratt Institute men's tennis team were firing on all cylinders in their final match before the Hudson Valley conference tournament, downing the Falcons of Albertus Magnus 9-0 on Sunday evening in the Pratt ARC.
As they have done all season, the tandem of Ben Erickson and Rongxin Zhang gave the Cannoneers an early lead with an 8-1 decision in No. 1 doubles. Eli Eskenazi and Simon Salazar made it 2-0 Pratt after taking the tiebreaker 7-0 in No. 2 doubles, and Johnson Meng and Hubert Chen completed the double's sweep with an impressive 8-1 victory.
Ben Erickson, who last week was named the HVIAC Player of the Week for the first time in his career, dominated No. 1 singles, winning easily 8-2. Simon Salazar, the conference's Rookie of the Week, continued his perfect mark in No. 4 singles, registering an 8-1 decision that sealed victory for the Cannoneers.
Pratt returns to action next Friday, April 28, against the Berkeley College Knights in the Hudson Valley conference men's tennis semifinals. Time is to be announced.
