NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - October 16, 2018 - The Pratt Institute women's soccer team put up four goals in the second half en route to a 4-1 victory over the College of New Rochelle at Flowers Park on Tuesday evening.
The win is the first of the season for the Cannoneers, and it marks the first win of Stephanie Di Mari's collegiate head coaching career. Pratt is now 1-7-1, while the Blue Angels drop to 1-3 overall. The Cannoneers owned a 20-4 margin in shots over 90 minutes of play, while Pratt also had seven corner kicks, while allowing none for New Rochelle. In net, Courtney Dreher had three saves in the first half, and Carly Klein made a save in the second half, while their counterpart, Alexandra Knight finished with 10 saves.
The scoring was spread out by Pratt, as three different players found the back of the net on the evening.
New Rochelle got on the board first as Darneisha Brice shot low past the goalkeeper at the 22-minute mark. Despite having 10 shots in the first half, the Cannoneers were unable to find the equalizer.
In the second half, senior Morgan Holub broke away from the defense and chipped a shot over the goalie, 12 minutes into the second half to even the score. Three minutes later, Lily Gaunt ripped a shot from 30 yards out that ricocheted off the crossbar and into the goal to give the Cannoneers the lead for good.
Pratt continued to pour in the goals, as Audrey Howard was able to score in both the 76th and 85th minutes, pushing the lead to 4-1.
Up Next: The Cannoneers will look to knock off Pine Manor College on Saturday, October 27th. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 PM.
