Pratt Institute Advances to Year Three of NCAA DIII Provisional Membership

Indianapolis, IN - The Pratt Institute has advanced to year three of NCAA Division III Provisional Membership which was announced by the NCAA on July 15.

Effective September 1, Pratt will begin its final year of the three year process for full NCAA Division III membership.  The NCAA Committee confirmed that Pratt fulfilled all requirements for provisional membership in the 2020-21 academic year.

"We are very excited to advance to the final year of provisional membership," stated Walter Rickard, Director of Athletics & Recreation. "A lot of hard work has been put in over the last two years to ensure we advanced to year three of provisional status and I am pleased we fulfilled all requirements and moved one step closer to full membership."

Pratt sponsors 14 NCAA intercollegiate programs and is a member of the Coast to Coast Conference (C2C).  Pratt began its transition to NCAA Division III with an exploratory season in 2018-19, which was rewarded with provisional membership the following year.

The Cannoneers completed its second season as a provisional member during the 2020-21 academic year.  Pratt met all requirements despite not having an athletic season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The provisional membership is a three year process which began in September of 2019. Pratt is on pace to become a full NCAA Division III member for the 2022-23 academic year.
