Women’s Soccer Stopped by Mary Washington in C2C Quarters

Cannoneers finish with 6-7-1 mark in first season under Head Coach Travis Blair.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The No. 5 seeded Pratt Institute women's soccer team saw their season come to a close with a 4-0 defeat to No. 4 seeded University of Mary Washington on Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship.

The Cannoneers finish their first season under Head Coach Travis Blair with a 6-7-1 mark. The tournament's host Eagles improves to 8-8-1 and meets No. 1 ranked and top-seeded Christopher Newport University in a semifinals matchup tomorrow.

Mary Washington opened the scoring in the eighth minute and scored again six minutes later for a 2-0 lead they would carry into the intermission. After nearly 45 minutes of scoreless action spanning both halves, the Eagles padded their lead with two quick tallies in the 61st and 63rd minutes.

Facing a 33-1 shot disparity, Emma Gaspari made a career-high 17 saves in defeat. Annabella Russell registered the lone shot attempt for the black-and-gold.

After back-to-back C2C tournament appearances, Pratt looks forward to commencing play as full members of the Atlantic East Conference beginning in the 2024-25 academic year.
