Pratt Rec offers personal training for all members of the ARC. The services are available for individuals and groups who are looking for the benefits of guidance, structure, education, accountability and motivation through a certified personal trainer. A personal trainer is available to benefit members at all levels within the Pratt Institute community and to help them attain their fitness goals for the present and the future.
GETTING STARTED
- All eligible clients MUST be an active member in good standing of the ARC.Â
- To begin the process, all interested parties **MUST COMPLETE THE ONLINE FORM**.
- All interested participants must review, agree, sign the Training waiver before returning to the front desk of the ARC. Contact and communicate with Head of Group and Personal Training, Carina Sturm, with precise interest in a training package as well as the scheduling of the first session.Â
- All initial training packages must be completed in service before renewals or new packages can be activated for use. Renewals of packages are encouraged if clients have less than two service sessions remaining.
- All purchased training packages are non-refundable.
SESSIONS & TRAINING
- First time clients will have an initial consultation or meeting with a trainer in addition to their training package.Â
- All sessions are thirty (30) minutes or sixty (60) minutes in length, depending on which package you have purchased.Â
- Sessions will be selected and agreed upon mutually by the client and the trainer. All sessions thereafter for rescheduling is at the discretion of the trainer’s availability.Â
- All training sessions acquired must be serviced within the following expiration period of four months from the date in which the package was purchased.Â
- Any and all unused sessions will be lost after the expiration period has passed.Â
- All clients must arrive on time for sessions. A fifteen-minute grace period will be extended for late clients. Please communicate with your trainer if you are going to be late for a session, or will be unable to attend a session. After fifteen minutes, the session will be canceled and will count as a serviced session. All sessions will still end on time as scheduled, or pending trainer availability, can be extended for full-time.Â
- All clients are expected to notify their trainer at least 24 hours in advance of a cancellation or a reschedule of a session. If a client cancels within the 24 hour time period, the individual is at the discretion and availability of the trainer on reschedule, or else, a charge for the session will occur.Â
- All clients MUST adhere to the rules and regulations of the ARC, as well as the community standards expressed by the Pratt Institute.Â
INSTRUCTIONAL CLINICS & CLASSES
(Students ONLY)
INTRO TO THE WEIGHT ROOMÂ (students ONLY): A semester long class designed for HIIT and circuit style workouts introducing machines, weights, and proper workout techniques to students in a group setting. This class is FREE to students who are looking for a great atmosphere to working out in a supportive and fun atmosphere, with complete access to a personal trainer for guidance, questions, and insight.Â
PRO-ACTIVE RECOVERY (students ONLY): Also offered within the Group Fitness schedule, for forty-five minutes, students will learn how to effectively engage active recovery days into their workout routines with techniques, proper programming, and access to personal trainer insight. This class is FREE to all students.
These classes will appear on the Group Fitness Schedule for each semester.Â
INDIVIDUAL TRAINING
Sometimes you need a little help to attain your goals, or, to dive into a new area of your fitness journey. Choose a plan that works for you in getting you where you want to be as you DESIGN YOURSELF.

GROUP TRAINING
If you have a group you would like to train with, and you all have similar goals, group training is a great choice. Group training allows two-four individuals the benefit of training together for camaraderie, while also splitting the costs on the training package. Highly recommended for on-campus departments and offices, as well as friends and/or family looking for the personalized experience outside of our group fitness offerings.Â
