BROOKLYN, NY - The Pratt Institute's athletic department has announced the hiring of David Ringwood as its next Head Cross Country and Track and Field coach as well as Coordinator of Recreation and Memberships.

Ringwood is excited to lead the Cannoneers to the next level. "Cross Country and Track & Field events, performed with purpose, are true works of art. The creative minds and competitive spirit found in Pratt's student-athletes make the cross country and track & field team's "performance art" a force to be reckoned with, in both the C2C and Metro Region. I am grateful to Walter and the search committee for joining me with this program and for sharing a vision of continued growth, success, and purpose. With the return to competition soon approaching, we are ready to literally hit the ground running… Go Cannoneers!"

Ringwood comes to Pratt from Cabrini University where he was the head men's and women's cross country coach since 2020. In his one season at Cabrini, David led both the men's and women's teams to top three finishes at the Atlantic East Conference Virtual Championships. Ringwood also increased roster sizes by 100% through recruiting, developed training programs, and led the planning, organizing, and execution of practices and meets to best fit their team and individual goals.

Prior to Cabrini, Ringwood spent five years at Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland as an assistant coach for the cross country and track & field teams. Ringwood's responsibilities at Loyola included leading the recruiting efforts of the men's cross country program, growing the incoming freshman class by 200% in his first three years of recruiting. Additionally, Ringwood was the Loyola University's Club Running Head Coach since 2018.

Ringwood is a 2013 graduate from John Hopkins University with a bachelors degree in economics. He also earned his masters from John Hopkins in 2016 with a degree in communications.

While at John Hopkins, Ringwood was a member of the cross country program and some of his career bests include: 4:21 in the mile, 9:19 in the two mile, 14:53 in the 5k, 1:06.58 in the half marathon and 2:36.21 in the marathon. He was also a member of John Hopkins first ever Conference Championship in 2013 and was the 2015 USATF East Region 10000m champion.

In 2016, Ringwood finished runner-up in the Charleston Marathon and was the top American in the race.
