Austin Hargett was introduced as Associate Director of Athletics for Recreation and Facilities in November 2021.
Hargett comes to Pratt from Hofstra University where he was the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation since August of 2019. While at Hofstra, Hargett was responsible for planning and implementing over ten intramural sports, group fitness classes, competitive and holiday events for a student population of 10,000, and overseeing facilities and programs utilized by over 1,000 people per week.
Additionally, Hargett oversaw operations, safety and maintenance of state-of-the-art, ADA compliance fitness center with over 115 pieces of cardio and Cybex strength training equipment, Cycle, Yoga/Pilates, and Aerobics studios, an indoor track, and three basketball courts.
Hargett also oversaw grad assistants and student workers, maintained various reporting for group fitness and facility usage, and managed facility and event reservations.
Hargett is excited to join the Pratt community. "I am grateful for his new role and opportunity to engage as well as interact with the Pratt Community. I'm looking forward to everything this position holds. My goal is to bring a unique and different perspective to the Pratt Athletics and Recreation Department."
Prior to Hofstra, Hargett served as the Recreation Assistant and Summer Sports Coordinator at LaGuardia Community College for four years. While at LaGuardia, Hargett was responsible for assisting with planning, promotion, and implementing intramurals, recreational classes, tournaments, and special/holiday events for benefit of 750 high school, college student, and community members daily.
Hargett also had stops at NYC Department of Parks & Recreation as a Community Recreation Intern, Men's Basketball Team Manager at LaGuardia Community College, and a Selling Specialist at Under Armour.
Hargett is a 2013 graduate from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Sport Management. He also earned a Masters of Science Degree in Recreational Education with a minor in Park Administration from Lehman College in 2018.
