Pratt finishes regular season 14-3 with 3-0 win on Senior Night

BROOKLYN -- The Cannoneers wrapped up the regular season 14-3 after a 3-0 win (25-7, 25-16, 25-11) over Sarah Lawrence College on Senior Night for Diana Lezama at the ARC Friday night in non-conference women's volleyball play.

Pratt sophomore Charlotte Burch led all players with seven kills and added seven digs and four aces. In her home farewell, Lezama threw down six kills with only one error for a .278 attack percentage, leading all players with eight digs on the night. Junior setter Alli Houghton fired a match-best six of Pratt's 22 service aces to go along with 19 assists in the win.

Three straight Houghton aces set the tone and gave Pratt a 4-1 lead. After a Burch ace helped force a Gryphons timeout trailing 13-3, consecutive Lezama aces made it a 24-7 advantage in the Cannoneers 25-7 win.

Sarah Lawrence started out hot in Game 2, with a Lenie Siegel kill sending the Gryphons in front 4-1 and Clarisse Taboy's ace extending the lead to 6-1. With the visitors clinging to a 12-9 lead, a Hannah Calderwood ace helped spark a 13-4 run closed out by another string of three straight Houghton aces before a Lezama kill closed the book on Pratt's 25-16 win.

With Game 3 knotted at 3-3, two Renny Engbring kills surrounding a Burch kill closed out an 8-3 run that lifted Pratt to an 11-6 lead. With Burch at serve, an 8-0 run featuring kills from Lezama, Calderwood and Abby Nagy wrapped up Pratt's 25-11 third set win.

For Sarah Lawrence, libero Lin Zhu led the way with six digs as the Gryphons hit only -.081 in falling to 2-15.

Pratt, meanwhile, gunned 22 aces and hit .246 in improving to 14-3.

The Cannoneers now prepare for the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Sunday, October 26. As the No. 2 seed, Pratt will open with No. 3 seed The King's (NY) College, against which the Cannoneers are 3-0 this season.
