BROOKLYN -- Pine Manor College shot 47 percent from three-point range in its 131-81 win over the Cannoneers Monday afternoon in non-conference men's basketball play at the Pratt ARC.
Cannoneers forward Ari Grant scored a career-high 30 points in the loss, and Gators guard Chancie Williams tossed in a game-high 35 points on 13-23 shooting, including 9-17 from deep. Pine Manor (7-8) converted 21-45 three-point attempts overall, opened up a 28-point halftime lead and increased its success from deep in the second half.
A Grant three-pointer from the top of the key with 12:00 remaining in the first cut the Gators lead to a point, at 22-21. Later in the half, Williams converted on three straight three-pointers, and a Cam Marcus trey capped an 18-4 Gators run, increasing the lead to 54-34 at the 5:10 mark.
Through halftime, Pine Manor shot 55 percent overall and 38 percent from deep, but the visitors got even hotter after the half. Williams' eighth triple preceded a three-pointer from Curtis Hyman, which opened up a 97-58 lead. One possession later, a Tank Roberson trey increased the lead to 100-58 as part of a second half in which the Gators hit on 54 percent (13-24) of three-point attempts.
The 131 points for Pine Manor, which averages over 96 points per game, marked a season best. Roberson added 23 points on 3-5 from downtown and a game-high nine assists, and Hyman hit 4-5 from deep for 15 points, which he paired with a game-best 15 rebounds.
For Pratt, freshman Andrew Yaglenski's 25 points were a season-best. Grant totalled a double-double of 30 points, 11 rebounds and a game-high three blocks. Junior guard Mehmet Doganata rounded out three Cannoneers in double figures with 10 points to go with nine boards.
Pratt returns to play on Friday against Alfred State at 5:30 at the ARC.
