Yaglenski's career high 35, Vernon's triple-double, lead Pratt to OT win over King's

BROOKLYN, NY – Andrew Yaglenski (Frederick, MD/Urbana) scored four of his career-high 35 points in overtime leading Pratt Institute to a 75-66 come-from-behind victory over King's College.

Freshman point guard Bubby Vernon (Boulder, CO/Santa Barbara) compiled his first career triple-double of 20 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds.

Khari Jones (Queens, NY/Campus Magnet) added five points, six rebounds and a game-high six blocks off the bench in his season debut.

A first-half basket by Yaglenski at 14:52 was the sophomore's 400th career point. The Frederick, Maryland native bested his previous career-high of 32, set against Touro College on December 6, and now has scored 30 or more points in four of Pratt's last nine games.

A back and forth first half saw King's take a two-point lead into the intermission on Trivette Knowles' basket with two seconds left in the period. But Vernon and Yaglenski teamed up to spark a 15-4 Pratt run over a span of 3:26 that included three Yaglenski threes that turned a three point deficit into an eight point advantage.

The Cannoneers would see their lead swell to as many as 11 before King's chipped away at the lead over the final 12 minutes in regulation.

Clinging to a two-point lead, Pratt allowed a putback from King's Michael Tomasiewicz with 49 seconds to play, tying the contest at 57. Jones scored off an offensive rebound to again give the Cannoneers a two-point lead with 35 second to play but Knowles sank a pair of free throws to force the extra session.

Pratt began overtime with four straight baskets, including two layups by Yaglenski. As Yaglenski led the offense, it was Jones leading the defense with three blocks as Pratt forced seven consecutive empty possessions by King's before Knowles ended the Lions scoring drought. Vernon, however, sank four straight free throws in the final minute in closing the door on a 75-66 win.

Tomasiewicz led King's with 22 points and Knowles added 16 with a game-high 18 boards.
