Despite Vernon's 15, shooting woes continue, Pratt falls at SUNY-ESF, 76-49

Syracuse, NY  – Freshman guard Bubby Vernon (Boulder, CO/Santa Barbara) scored 15 points but was the only Cannoneer to reach double figures as Pratt fell to SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, 76-49, in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road matchup on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore center Khari Jones (Queens, NY/Campus Magnet) had seven points and six rebounds and sophomore guard Andrew Yaglinski (Frederick, MD/Urbana) added nine and three for the Cannoneers who dropped their third straight game and fell to 4-6 overall and 0-4 in HVIAC play.

Ryan Caldwell had 12 points and nine rebounds, Jared Bard had 15 points for the Mighty Oaks, who saw nine different players register at least five points, in improving to 4-12 overall and 2-1 in HVIAC play.

SUNY-ESF took control of the game from the opening tip forcing the Cannoneers to play catch-up. Shooting a season-best 53% from the field, SUNY-ESF opened up a 19-point lead at the half and extended that lead over the game's final twenty minutes. 

UP NEXT: Pratt welcomes The New School to the Pratt Activities Resource Center in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday. The matchup begins a stretch of five home games for the Cannoneers to close out the 2015-16 regular season …The Cannoneers defeated the Narwhals 69-58 in the season opener on November 6.

TIP-INS: Eight different Cannoneers scored at least two points …Vernon added six rebounds, matching Jones for the team high …Cannoneers attempted a season-low six free throws.
