JOHNSON CITY, NY – The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team scored a come-from-behind win over hosting Davis College in five sets before falling to the College of New Rochelle in straight sets at the Davis College Tri-Match Saturday afternoon.
Senior Hannah Calderwood (Clinton, WA/South Whidbey) paced the Cannoneers, tallying 17 kills and defending 14 digs over the two matches. The middle hitter also notched eight blocks on the afternoon and recorded her fourth career double-double against Davis.
Senior Charlotte Burch (Lawrence, KS/Bishop Seabury) combined for eight kills and four aces on the afternoon and classmate Joan Wyeth (Ivoryton, CT/Valley Regional) notched seven kills and defended 21 digs.
"Playing without several key players, some players were given an opportunity to rise to the occasion and they did just that to earn a split," said head coach Louis Sepulveda. "Our players played with passion and heart to beat Davis in five and then gave New Rochelle a good scare."
The tri-match split gave the Cannoneers the number two seed in the upcoming Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament.
Pratt 3 Davis College 2 (12-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 15-3)

College of New Rochelle 3 Pratt 0 (20-25, 20-25, 9-25)
After a hard-fought victory over Davis, the Cannoneers battled the College of New Rochelle, with the HVIAC/s number one seed on the line, and suffered a 3-0 loss.
Struggling to maintain the offensive consistency from the final two sets of game one, Pratt totaled 23 attack errors to only 14 kills for a -.191 attack percentage, the lowest mark of the season for the Cannoneers. New Rochelle tallied 27 kills, while only making 13 errors, for a .215 attack percentage, which ultimately proved to be the difference in the match.
Calderwood again paced the Cannoneers with four kills and four blocks. Wyeth defended 12 digs and Nagy dished out seven assists in the setback.
