Long Island, NY -- The Pratt Institute men's basketball team couldn't overcome a large first half deficit Saturday in a 102-56 nonconference road loss to Five Towns College.
The loss dropped Pratt to 4-4 (1-1) while Five Towns moves to 7-2.
Junior Adam Blufarb led the Cannoneers with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Bubby Vernon chipped-in 13. Khari Jones continued his strong play, nearly missing a double-double, scoring nine points while grabbing 13 rebounds.
As a team, Pratt struggled from the field, shooting just 30.8 percent and just 20.8 from behind the arc.
A Blufarb three pointer kept the game close early, but a 20-1 run mid-way through the first half saw Five Towns increase their lead 35-9. Vernon's three capped a 10-0 for the visitors who tried to close the gap. However, the Sound followed with an 11-point run of their own and led 55-26 at the break.
In the second half, Pratt demonstrated better shooting and ball control but couldn't find any rhythm as Five Towns led comfortably en route to the win.
Six Sound players scored in double figures, led by Stu Warren's 20 points.
Pratt returns to action Monday afternoon with a road contest against Central Penn College before returning to Brooklyn for a home game versus Alfred State.
