BROOKLYN – Senior Ari Grant matched a season-high with 26 points and added 17 rebounds, but the Cannoneers were unable to overcome a sharp-shooting Berkeley College team that connected on 14 three-pointers, ultimately falling, 119-53, Thursday evening at the Pratt ARC.
The loss extended the Cannoneers' losing streak to five games.
Andrew Yaglenski added 12 points for Pratt, who fell to 4-6 (1-2) dropping to sixth place in HVIAC standings.
Berkeley College was led by Ricardo Ayuso's 18 points and Stephon Jennings tallied 16 as the Knights saw seven different players record double figures. The win improved Berkeley's record to 18-0 (4-0) as their winning streak has grown to staggering 43 games.
Threes by both Yaglenski and Vishal Vanka gave Pratt and early 6-4 lead. The Knights emerged from their early offensive woes to ignite a 15-0 run before 5 straight points by Grant got the Cannoneers back in the game. Back-to-back jumpers by Eric Jeon helped Pratt get within 11 at 31-20, but the home team would get no closer during the evening. Eight three-points over a span of five minutes gave Berkeley all the offense they needed as they opened a 66-27 lead at intermission.
The Knights would continue their offensive dominance in the second stanza, scoring 63 points. Their defense held Pratt scoreless for nearly six minutes, allowing only 26 second-half points as the Cannoneers suffered their worst loss of the season.
