Pratt can't hold lead, falls to Berkeley, 4-1

NEW YORK, NY – Pratt Institute men's soccer team dropped their Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Berkeley College, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island.

Pratt would strike first in the 29th minute, as Natt Slober gathered a loose ball around midfield, outraced the center back, and beat the goalkeeper 1-on-1 to give the Cannoneers a 1-0 advantage. Challenged early and often, goalkeeper Jack Foster made five first-half saves to preserve Pratt's lead entering half time.

Following intermission, Berkley would press the Cannoneers' defense but was unable to find their shot. The Knights offensive pressure would finally pay off in the 60th minute, as Hallgrim Tryli would take a pass from Meshema Charles and beat Foster to his bottom left, evening the score at 1 apiece. Berkeley would extend their lead in the 71st minute following Marcos Leon's goal off a deflection. The Knights would hit for two more as prevail 4-1.

After the game, coach Jonas Worth talked about this game as it relates to the developing a program.

"A game like we had today, against a quality opponent, is part of the process of building a strong team and a strong program. We have so many young players and we want to get them prepared to grow and learn the game so we can be competitive in this conference in the near future. As far as today goes, I'm pleased with our progress."

Up Next: The Cannoneers return to the pitch next Saturday as they travel to Johnson City, NY to face the Falcons of Davis College in conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
