DIX HILLS, NY – Junior center Amissa Epperson posted a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds, while adding six blocks, as Pratt women's basketball outlasted the Sound of Five Towns College 55-33 on Sunday afternoon.
With the Cannoneers leading 6-5 towards the end of the first quarter, AimeeLyn Miller would connect on a trio 3-pointers to help Pratt increase their lead to 10, 17-7, with under a minute to play in the first.
Five Towns would control the pace of the second quarter, outscoring the Cannoneers 11-3, as the teams headed into halftime deadlocked at 20-20.
The third quarter belonged to Pratt, as Epperson scored 11 points, while senior guard Anna Bryce added five points and five assists in the frame. The Cannoneers lead to extend to 16-points, 40-24, followed a pair of Eisabella Janis free throws.
Epperson's dominant form would carry over into the final quarter, scoring nine points and grabbing five boards, as Pratt cruised to victory 55-33.
For the game, the Pratt defense held the Sound to 18.4% shooting (14-76) and forced 36 turnovers, while compiling a season-high 12 blocks.
