DIX HILLS, NY – Andrew Yaglenski scored a team-high 20 points and Adam Blufarb added 13 as Pratt men's basketball fell to the Sound of Five Towns College 82-60 Sunday afternoon in non-conference play.
Pratt falls to 3-5 on the season, while Five Towns College improve to 9-4 overall.
Four early turnovers by the Cannoneers saw the Sound race out to an 11-4 lead within seven minutes of the opening half. Pratt would regroup and take the lead following an 11-0 run, highlighted by back-to-back threes from Bubby Vernon and Yaglenski. With clutch free throw shooting and timely threes, Pratt would stretch their lead to 11, 29-18 with under five minutes remaining. However, Five Towns would score 14 of the final 16 points to regain the lead, 32-31, heading into intermission.
Down three early in the second stanza, Blufarb's trey would again tie the score at 41 all. Five Towns would respond with an impressive 17-4 to increase their lead to 58-45. Eric Xue's jumper began a Cannoneers rally as they cut the lead back to seven, 58-51. Unfortunately, Pratt would get no close as the Sound's precise shooting allowed the home team to cruise to victory 82-60.
Five Towns had four players score in double figures, led by Kyree Sawyer's game-high 27.
