Corona, NY – The Pratt Institute women's basketball team concluded their 2016-17 campaign by outlasting Vaughn College, 67-66, in Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Conference play Thursday evening at the Elmcor Recreation Center in Queens.
A pair of late free throws put Vaughn ahead, 66-65, with only moments to play . However, Pratt would not be denied as Emily Guerra's lay up with five seconds remaining stole the victory for the Cannoneers, who finish with an overall record of 7-9, 2-4 in HVIAC action.
Freshman Idalia Kaplan posted a career-high 17 points, while double-doubles by both Anna Bryce (21 points, 12 rebounds) and Guerra (16 points, 16 rebounds) paced the Cannoneers. Amissa Epperson added nine points and 11 rebounds for the victors.
The Warriors were led by Maia Rivers' 26 points and 14 rebounds as Vaughn College (3-17,1-5 HVIAC) ended their season by dropping their last seven contests.
Head coach Sade Jackson's second season at the helm will begin with high expectations, as Pratt returns their entire starting lineup for their 2017-18 slate.
