Cannoneers improve to 8-4 with 3-0 win over Sarah Lawrence

BROOKLYN – Pratt Institute men's volleyball improved to 8-4 with a 3-0 win over Sarah Lawrence College in non-league play Friday night at the ARC.

Freshman outside hitter Dean Liaw led all players with 11 kills, and setter David Cutler's 17 assists were a season high. Outside hitter Andreas Haji-Georgi totaled four kills on nine attacks for a match-best .333 attack percentage, and the Cannoneers held the Gryphons to -.031 hitting.

A Cutler solo block helped open up a 6-2 Pratt lead in Game 1. Back-to-back Haji-Georgi service aces widened the advantage to 17-10, and a Liaw kill from Cutler wrapped up a 25-12 win.

The Cannoneers led by no more than two points for the majority of the second set, before Sarah Lawrence broke through in taking its first lead at 17-16 on a Harris Silcott kill. Pratt head coach Jason Demas called a timeout trailing 20-19, after which Liaw responded with a pair of kills that ignited a 6-0 run to close out a 25-20 Cannoneers win.

Haji-Georgi's kill sent Pratt out to a 7-5 lead in Game 3. Clinging to a one-point lead, Ari Grant fired a pair of aces in the Cannoneers 7-0 run that upped the margin to 20-12 in his team's 25-20 victory.

Grant led all players with four service aces and three total blocks (two solo, one assist), while Haji-Georgi followed with three aces.

At 8-4 on the season, Pratt returns to play on Tuesday at the ARC against Yeshiva. When the teams met on February 26 in Washington Heights, the Cannoneers swept the Maccabees, 3-0.
