Yaglenski eclipses 1,000 career points as Pratt falls to Vaughn in conference play

BROOKLYN – Senior guard Andrew Yaglenski scored 21 points, including a 3-pointer at the end of the game to reach 1,000 career points, but the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute fell to Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Vaughn College, 82-44, on Thursday evening at the ARC. The result drops Pratt to (4-9, 0-2 HVIAC), while the Warriors improve to (9-5, 4-0 HVIAC).

"Vaughn is a really good team," said head coach Max Sass following the game. "I thought we fought and battled, unfortunately we didn't have enough fire power to keep up with them. I'm bummed by the result, but it was great to see Andrew get his 1,000th career point. Going forward, this stretch of three games in four days will be a good indicator of exactly how tough we are and where we stand."

Behind the inside presence of Bryan Green, Vaughn was able to control the glass, outrebounding the Cannoneers by a margin of 57-23. On the offensive side of the ball, the Warriors shot 45.5 percent (30-66) while limiting Pratt to 31.6 percent (18-57), although Pratt did tie their season-high by connecting on eight 3-pointers, including five from Yaglenski.

With a limited bench due to injuries, several Cannoneers where able to see extended minutes. Chris Harding, starting his third game of the season, played a season-high 33 minutes, while Hamza Hamdeh finished the night with a personal-best seven points on 3-of-6 shooting in 33 minutes of action.

UP NEXT – The Cannoneers head to Syracuse, NY for a conference showdown against the Mighty Oaks of SUNY-ESF on Saturday, January 20. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00pm.
