Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Cannoneers can't complete comeback, fall to PSU - Wilkes Barre, 70-61

LEHMAN, PA  Anna Bryce posted a near triple-double of 23 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists, and AimeeLyn Miller tallied a season-high 19 points, but Penn State - Wilkes Barre (5-4) edged the Pratt Institute women's basketball team (4-6), 70-61, Sunday afternoon in Pennsylvania.

Down five points five minutes into the game, a pair of Miller three-pointers, coupled with a Sally Song layup, allowed Pratt to keep the score close, 13-10, after the first ten minutes.

Precise shooting and a stingy defense saw the Nittany Lions build a 13-point lead, 29-16, with under three minutes remaining until intermission. However, with clutch free throws and another Miller three with one second remaining, the Cannoneers concluded the first half on a 10-0 run trailing by three, 29-26, at the break.

Down by six late in the third quarter, Anna Bryce would assist on consecutive Miller baskets, a deep three and the subsequent layup, as the Cannoneers got within one, 44-43. Wilkes Barre would capitalize on some late Pratt turnovers to extend their lead, 48-43, as the teams headed into the fourth quarter.

With just over four minutes remaining in the game, Bryce's layup got the Cannoneers within two, 55-53. They would be unable to get any closer, however, as the Nittany Lions hit seven consecutive free throws down the stretch to escape with the victory.

Up Next - Pratt begins their Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference slate when they travel to take on the Knights of Berkeley College on Thursday, January 11. A 6:00 pm tipoff is scheduled.
