New York, N.Y. - August 31, 2018 - The Pratt Institute men's soccer team dropped its season-opening game to SUNY Delhi, 6-0, in head coach Randy Velasco's debut on the Pratt sideline.
With the loss, the Cannoneers fell to 0-1, while the Broncos begin the season 1-0.
In net, Pratt's Carter Boliek recorded eight saves in his collegiate debut, while his counterpart, Marcos Andrino did not make a save, as the visiting Broncos out-shot the Cannoneers 13-4.
SUNY Delhi opened the contest up with a goal from Alhasane Sako in the 9th minute, the first of Sako's two goals on the day.
First half shot attempts by Juan Gomez, Dylan Cabral, and Steven Morin were unable to find their target and Pratt went into halftime down two goals, after a SUNY Delhi corner kick deflected off one of the home team's defenders into its own goal.
The Broncos continued their scoring in the second half, with goals in the 50th, 60th, and 75th minutes, and a made penalty kick by Carlos Del Monte in the 81st minute wrapped up the scoring for the match.
Up Next: The Cannoneers will get another opportunity to secure Velasco's first win on Sunday afternoon, as they will host College of St. Elizabeth at Bronx Community College - Ohio Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
