Women's Volleyball Blanks Centenary

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - September 14, 2018 - The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team delivered a victory in straight sets against Centenary University (NJ) on Friday night at the Pratt ARC.

The Cannoneers won the match with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, and 25-13.

With the win, the Cannoneers improved to 2-4, while the Cyclones drop to 0-5.

First-year Shannon Corr paced Pratt with nine kills, and two service aces, while hitting .500 for the match. Junior Julia Kubak finished with 19 assists, and first-year Ivana Santascoy chipped in seven digs, and four service aces.

The Cannoneers limited Centenary to a .050 hitting percentage on the night.

Trailing 7-5 in the first set, Pratt responded with seven consecutive points, including three service aces from Madeline Markley to gain control, 12-7. Back and forth play continued but the home team was able to close out the first set 25-13 with a kill from Oliver Buika.

The second set was all Pratt, 25-16, highlighted by their six service aces in the set, lead by Yessenia Sanchez and Santascoy. 

In the third set, Coach Louis Sepulveda's group was clinging to a 6-4 lead before opening the scoring up with a 9-1 run to establish a large lead, 17-4, and a service error from Centenary on match point closed it out for Pratt.

Up Next: The Cannoneers are back in action Saturday, September 15th, as they host a tri-match with Mt. St. Mary (NY) and Rosemont College. Pratt will face the Knights at 11:00 AM, followed by taking on the Ravens at 3:00 PM.
