BROOKLYN, N.Y. - January 13, 2019 - The Pratt Institute men's basketball team, led by first-year Griffin Levine, raced past the Rhode Island School of Design, 69-55, on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Rhode Island College.
The win extended Pratt's winning streak to two as the Cannoneers improved their record to 7-4, while the setback dropped RISD to 0-9.
Griffin Levine (Dallas, Tex.) led all scorers with 31 points to go along with three steals and four assists for Pratt, while Akil Phillip (Queens, N.Y.) pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds. Bubby Vernon (Boulder, C.O.) chipped in 14 points off the bench, and Tytus Millikan (Winnemucca, Nev.) was a stat-sheet stuffer with nine points, six assists, and nine rebounds. Pratt grabbed 43 rebounds, and had 18 assists on 27 made field goals.
"I think that long road trips and long bus rides challenge the mental toughness of a team, and now that we've crossed over the halfway point of the season, we're starting to see what this team is made of," said head coach Max Sass about his team's performance. "Getting off a bus in Providence, and executing the way we did shows that these guys are growing, maturing, and being as tough as we knew they were capable of."
Up Next: Pratt will play at the College of New Rochelle, Tuesday, January 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
