Strong Second Half Lifts Pratt Over New School

BROOKLYN, NY - The Pratt Institute's men's basketball team (2-1) used a strong second half to earn its second straight win with a 77-66 victory over The New School on Friday evening.

Griffin Levine (Dallas, TX) led the Cannoneers with a season high 27 points. seven rebounds and three assists.  Freshman Patrick O'Gorman (Glen Ridge, NJ) added a career high 16 points and six steals while Ace Bibbs (Philadelphia, PA) and Arthur Palaci-Zani (New York, NY) had 11 points a piece.

The Cannoneers started off slow in the first half as the New School took an 11-2 lead six minutes into the contest. Over the next three minutes, Pratt scored 11 straight points to take a 13-11 lead, its first of the ballgame. 

With the New School leading 22-19 at the 6:34 mark, Pratt rolled off the next seven points to gain a 26-22 advantage. The Cannoneers lead grew to as many as six before The New School took the final five points of the half to cut Pratt's lead to 30-29.

Trailing 38-35, Pratt went on a dominating 13-2 run over a four minute stretch to take a 48-40 lead. The New School managed to claw its way back over the next three minutes, scoring nine of the next 10 points to take a 52-51 lead.

New School took a four point lead with four minutes remaining, however, Bibbs thunderous dunk a minute later gave Pratt a one point lead.

Following the dunk, the Cannoneers would not surrender the lead over the final five minutes. Pratt's lead continued to grow at the end of the fourth quarter before taking the game by 11.

Pratt finished with a season high eight blocks with Palaci-Zani having five. The Cannoneers also forced 18 turnovers and held New School to under 40% from the floor.

Pratt returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Manhattanville College at 8 pm.
