BROOKLYN, NY - The Pratt Institute's men's basketball team (4-5) fell in a battle with the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 76-49 on Wednesday evening.
Patrick O'Gorman (Glen Ridge, NJ) led the Cannoneers with a team high 14 points.
Griffin Levine (Dallas, TX) added 13 points and five rebounds while
Ace Bibbs (Philadelphia, PA) pitched in with eight points and three rebounds.
Trailing 14-9 early in the first half, the Cannoneers used a 9-0 run to gain an 18-14 advantage nine minutes into the contest. USMMA battled back to tie the game at 24 and outscored Pratt by five over the remaining three minutes of the half to take a 34-29 lead into the break.
USMMA scored 17 of the first 22 points of the second half to open up a 51-35 lead. Pratt would cut the deficit to 59-46 would 5:30 minutes remaining but could not get any closer before falling, 76-49.
The Cannoneers held USMMA to just 25% shooting from three and forced 16 turnovers.
Pratt returns to action on Sunday for its final game of the semester when it travels to SUNY ESF for a 1 pm tip.
