Roshanaie Captures First Win at Pratt As Men's Tennis Downs St. Joseph’s, 6-3

BROOKLYN, N.Y.  - April 24, 2019 - The Pratt Institute men's tennis team battled to a 6-3 win over neighborhood rival, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Wednesday night in the Pratt ARC.

Competing in the regular season finale before the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) semi-finals this Saturday, the Cannoneers succeeded in getting head coach Farhad Roshanaie his first win on Willoughby Avenue.

In doubles play, the duo of Andrew Hyun and Hubert Chen picked up the first point of the match with an 8-5 win at the No. 1 spot. Pratt would use an 8-2 win at No. 2 by Leo Yang and Houlin Fan to take a 2-1 lead into singles.

Hyun wasted no time cruising to a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles, and Chen was victorious as well at No. 2 singles, battling to win 7-6, 2-6, 10-4. The Cannoneers would win two more singles matches en route to the 6-3 victory.  Fan was victorious by a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 decision at No. 3, and Yang breezed to a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4.

Up Next: Pratt will next play in the HVIAC Semi-Finals at the Dutchess Racquet Club as they take on top-seeded Culinary Institute of America. The Cannoneers faced the Steels back on April 7 and dropped the match, 0-9.
