BRONXVILLE, NY - The Pratt Institute's women's volleyball team (10-3) downed Sarah Lawrence College for its eighth straight win, 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-23, 25-12) on Saturday afternoon.
Josie Johnson led the way for Pratt, finishing with 16 digs, 10 kills, and six service aces. Â
Hannah Leitten had a career high 33 assists while
Zeynep Akgol added a game high 23 digs.
With the score tied at 18 in set one, Pratt took seven of the final nine points to take a 1-0 lead.
After dropping the second set, Pratt came back in the third set to win 25-23 in a tightly contested set. Pratt ledt most of the way in the set including by as many as nine, however Sarah Lawrence used a 7-0 run late in the set to get within 20-19. Â With the score tied at 23, The Cannoneers won the next two points to take the set 25-23.
The final set was dominated by Pratt, 25-12. Â Leading 16-11, the Cannoneers won nine of the final ten points to close the match out, 3-1.
As a team, Pratt finished with 91 digs, 40 kills, and 38 assists.
The Cannoneers return to action on Monday when it travels to Saint Elizabeth University for a 7 pm start.
