BROOKLYN, NY - The Pratt Institute's men's basketball team (1-3) held off Baruch College in overtime to earn its first win of the season, 73-70 on Tuesday evening.
Patrick O'Gorman led Pratt with a game high 25 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals.Â
Cameron Hatcher notched his second double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and 14 rebounds while
Daniel Golub added a career high 17 points.
Baruch led by as many as 12 in the first half as Pratt's offense struggled in the first seven minutes of the contest, scoring just six points.Â
Trailing 23-12 with 7:27 remaining in the first half, the Cannoneers used a 7-0 over the next 1:30 to get within four. Baruch closed out the half scoring 4 of the final six points to take a 35-27 lead into the break.
With Baruch leading 44-37 with 14 minutes remaining in regulation, Pratt rolled off eight of the next nine points to tie the game at 45. With just under 10 minutes remaining, O'Gorman knocked down a jumper to give Pratt a 49-48 advantage, its first lead of the game.
The seesaw contest continued over the last eight minutes as Pratt opened up its largest lead of the game at 59-55 with 1:23 remaining in regulation, however Baruch scored the final four points of the second half to send the game into overtime at 59.
After Baruch scored the first bucket of overtime, the Cannoneers connected on the next seven points to open up a 66-61 lead. Pratt continued to lead the remainder of overtime, with Baruch cutting the lead to one with 34 seconds remaining. Pratt's defense locked down on Baruch's final two possessions, causing a turnover and a missed three-pointer on the last shot to take the game 73-70.
As a team, Pratt outrebounded Baruch 36-28 and had 16 assists on 26 field goals.
Pratt returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Wesleyan University for the first round of the Herb Kenny Invitational.Â
