BROOKLYN, NY - The Pratt Institute's women's soccer team (0-1-1) fell in a back and forth battle with Maritime College, 4-3 on Friday evening.
With just over 20 minutes into the first half,
Amelie Stoddard (Portland, OR) connected for her first career goal off an assist from
Kayla Galvan to give the Cannoneers the 1-0 lead.
Pratt continued to apply pressure offensively and it paid off with 2:54 remaining in the first half as
Siena Sujitno (Toronto, Canada) scored her first career goal from as assist by
Grace Florence (Worthington, OH) to give the Cannoneers a 2-0 lead headed into half.
Maritime got on the board six minutes into the second half after Kiera Ford put home her first goal of the season to cut Pratt's lead to 2-1.
With 24 minutes remaining in regulation, Sara Wright knocked in her first goal of the season to tie the game at two. Just five minutes later, Wright converted her second goal of the game to give Maritime the 3-2 lead.
Down but not out, with 13 minutes remaining Florence connected for her second goal of the season from 25 yards out off a free kick to square the match at three.
With just under one minute remaining, Brianne Etienne scored her first goal of the season to give Maritime the 4-3 win.
Pratt returns to action on September 18 when it hosts SUNY Old Westbury at Randall's Island at 9 am.
